WALLARAH AND BLACKLEY OVALS WILL NOT SEE DEVELOPMENT UNDER DR ROSS KERRIDGE

As Lord Mayor, I will withdraw Newcastle Council's support for the development of the Basketball Stadium on the Wallarah and Blackley Ovals site.

My policy is that Council should sit down with Newcastle Basketball Association and the NSW Government to find a better site. One that does not impact so heavily on the community.

This morning's clumsy announcement from the Lord Mayor and Labor Councillors shows that they are desperately trying to backflip on the 11th hour, just 3 weeks prior to the election.

This backflip isn't about listening to the community, it's about saving their careers.

The Lord Mayor and Labor Councillors couldn't even be bothered to show up to the community meeting 2 weeks ago.

If they were serious about protecting these ovals and listening to the community, they would withdraw Council's support immediately.
